Joint OCI for Out-of-State Employers

Are you located outside of the Chicago area, and interested in interviewing Chicago area law students but concerned about the cost-effectiveness of sending an interviewer here? We can set up a Joint On-Campus Interview for you!

What is a Joint On-Campus Interview?

To maximize the efficiency of your interview schedule, Chicago-Kent will host an interview day on its campus for your recruiting team, and allow you to include students from other Chicago area schools on that interview schedule.

Who Uses the Joint OCI Program?

Both private entities (firms and corporations) and government agencies (federal and state) have taken advantage of our Joint OCI program in the past. The only requirement is that you are not interviewing for offices in Illinois. Only out-of-state employers can conduct a Joint OCI.

Which Chicago Area Schools Could be Included?

Chicago-Kent is a member of the Chicago Area Law School Consortium (CALSC), an organization comprised of 11 Illinois area schools. Other CALSC member schools include:

  • DePaul University College of Law
  • Loyola University Chicago School of Law
  • Northern Illinois University College of Law
  • Northwestern University Law School
  • Notre Dame Law School
  • Southern Illinois University School of Law
  • The John Marshall Law School
  • Valparaiso University School of Law
  • University of Chicago Law School
  • University of Illinois College of Law

How Are Candidates Selected?

Employers may set specific criteria for applicants (e.g. GPA, class rank, moot court, Law Review, etc.). Each school participating in the Joint OCI will enforce those criteria in prescreening. All materials will then be forwarded to Chicago-Kent which will bundle the application materials and send them electronically, by mail or by fax to the employer. The employer will then select the candidates it would like to interview and inform Chicago-Kent of the selections. Chicago-Kent will notify the other participating schools as to which of their students were chosen.

How Long Do I Have to Make Selections?

Chicago-Kent needs at least two weeks to notify the other schools which of their students were selected, and then to arrange the interview schedules to accommodate all of the participating students. Please choose your interview date to give enough time for this process to occur.

How Do I Register for Joint OCI?

Please contact Sandra Minea, Director of Career Services & Recruitment Programs for Chicago-Kent College of Law to arrange for a Joint OCI. Her contact information is:
