Important information for students regarding transition of email to Gmail (Google Apps)
- Username changes: All Chicago-Kent accounts have been renamed to match myIIT username/Portal ID.

To Access your Email
- To access email, log on to my.iit.edu. Click on the Google Apps for Chicago-Kent icon or access mail by configuring a mobile phone or tablet.
- To access email from an iPhone, Android device or iPad, please click here for instructions on setting up email on a mobile device.
- The CLC will not support any other mail client for connecting to Google Apps.
A note about email addresses
- Your official email address is username@kentlaw.iit.edu. You will send email using this address.
- You will still be able to receive email at username@kentlaw.edu.
For students with a MyIIT username different than Chicago-Kent username, the CK username has been changed to match the MyIIT portal username.

If your my.iit.edu password and Chicago-Kent password are the same
- Go to my.iit.edu and enter your MyIIT portal ID
- To synchronize the Google Apps password
- Click Training and Support Tab
- Under Google Apps Account Maintenance click Sync Password.
- Click on the Google Apps for Chicago-Kent icon to access the Gmail inbox.
If your my.iit.edu password and Chicago-Kent password are different
For ease of use and in order to keep all the passwords the same, please change the password at the portal which will automatically change the Chicago-Kent password.
- Go to my.iit.edu and enter your MyIIT portal ID
- Click on My Account and change the password, then click Save changes. This will automatically change your CK password.
- To synchronize the Google Apps password:
- Click the Training and Support Tab.
- Under Google Apps Account Maintenance, click "Sync Password."
- Click on the Google Apps for Chicago-Kent icon to access the Gmail inbox.
Note: Since May 22, 2012, my.iit.edu will be the official and only place to change passwords.
By synchronizing passwords, you will have one password for the following applications:
- Google Apps
- MyIIT Portal
- Network services, wireless, printing, web for students, etc.
When you change the password you must:
- Reconfigure printing, wireless and mapped drive services for Chicago-Kent (This includes the "printall" printer, IIT-Secure wireless, and "H" drives)
- Reconfigure email services on mobile devices such as phones, iPads, etc.
- For student org office/lab computers: Log off and log in with new password
Information about migration of old email for students
- Email from your old Webmail account has been migrated to your Google Apps account. There are some file types that Google will not accept. Emails with these file types will NOT be migrated.
- Email has been migrated from all your sub-folders to corresponding Gmail "Labels."
- The CLC will store student email on the old Webmail system for 180 days after May 25. After that, all old email content will be unavailable.
- CLC recommends that you check your spam folder and mark any emails you wish to keep as "not spam." It is also recommended that you check your spam folder periodically to make sure emails are being delivered correctly.
- All items in the Trash folder will be permanently deleted after 90 days.
Accessing Web for Students to check grades, pass/fail, etc.
- Note: If your password for the my.iit.edu portal is different from the password for your CK username, use the CK password.
- There are steps below to synchronize these passwords for consistency.
- To access grades, go to https://wfs.kentlaw.iit.edu and enter your MyIIT portal ID (username) and the password.
- This URL will work from Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome.
