IIT Chicago-Kent's Institute on the Supreme Court of the United States releases searchable/shareable audio of Health Care Reform Act arguments
The Oyez Project makes transcripts and audio available to a wider audience

IIT Chicago-Kent's Institute on the Supreme Court of the United States (ISCOTUS) has updated its comprehensive multimedia guide on issues related to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act by making the oral arguments and transcripts more accessible to a wider audience.
Visitors to the ISCOTUS healthcare web page at www.oyeztoday.org/healthcare can find a trove of information on the issues and a link to the four separate arguments (Anti-Injunction Act, individual mandate, severability, and Medicaid requirement). The argument audio+transcript player can be embedded in other websites, offering particular appeal to the media, citizen journalists, and bloggers.
"The key to our new release is the integration of media and text. While readers can search a PDF file, they will not get the full effect of the arguments without listening to them. It's akin to the difference between reading song lyrics and actually listening to the track," said Oyez Project director Jerry Goldman. "And by listening to the audio matching it to the transcript, the Oyez Project has been able to correct the transcript, which was produced under great pressure."
Established in 2011, the Institute on the Supreme Court of the United States combines the law school's core strengths: cutting-edge legal scholarship and technological innovation. Its Oyez Project leverages information technology to make materials related to the U.S. Supreme Court instantly accessible around the world. The website, www.oyez.org, which has tens of thousands of visitors a day, provides immediate access to nearly 10,000 hours of courtroom audio and is adding merits briefs and amici briefs to its already comprehensive database.
