2012 Entering Class
The Center for Law and Computers (CLC) is available to assist you with your computer and technical questions and concerns. You can reach a member of the CLC staff by calling (312) 906-5300 or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chicago-Kent has undertaken as its ongoing mission an effort to integrate technology with a law school education, and therefore, Chicago-Kent requires all first year law students to own a computer to complete their law school education. The Center for Law and Computers provides all entering first year students with Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows software, which includes Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access. In addition, Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac is available. Therefore, you do not need to purchase these software programs when buying a new computer. Computer purchase recommendations are available online and will also be sent to you by mail.
You will receive your computer network information during Orientation Week. Network accounts will not be created until shortly before Orientation, so you should not plan on them being available throughout the summer. During Orientation Week, all students will receive generalized training on the technology resources available at Chicago-Kent. This will include information on our e-mail system, a tour of Chicago-Kent's resources available over the Internet, and other technology resources that you will find useful during your academic career.
