Diversity Recruitment Events
The Office of Admissions supports diversity at IIT Chicago-Kent through its recruitment and admissions programming as well as partnerships with other departments and organizations to attract, retain and support a diverse student body.
Annual recruiting and admissions events include:
Mid-Atlantic Pre-Law Conference and Fair
Chicago-Kent participates in this annual conference and recruitment fair in an effort to continue its outreach to prospective diverse students. This event is held every fall on the Howard University campus in Washington, D.C.
LSAC Atlanta Law Forum
This LSAC-sponsored law forum is held annually and invites prospective students from the greater Atlanta region, including the Atlanta University System, and from Historically Black Colleges and Universities of the Southeast region.
Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund
Chicago-Kent participates annually in the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund Law Day. The focus of the law day is to attract prospective law school applicants of color, as well as New York–area high school seniors, college freshmen, and others who may be considering law school.
National Black Pre-Law Admissions and Preparation Conference
Chicago-Kent participates in this annual conference and recruitment fair in an effort to continue its outreach to prospective African-American students. This national conference invites pre-law minority students from across the country to meet with admissions representatives from various law schools to gather insight and understanding of the law school admissions process.
Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO)
Each year, Chicago-Kent participates in Achieving Success in the Application Process (ASAP) Seminars, hosted by the Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO). These seminars are designed to provide additional resources and support to underrepresented students interested in attending law school.
Students of Color and Cultural Diversity Open House
Each year, the Office of Admissions hosts the Students of Color and Cultural Diversity Open House, which allows prospective students to learn more about the diversity of the Chicago-Kent community. Attendees meet with faculty, staff and students during a reception and program that includes a panel discussion featuring student representatives from APALSA, BLSA, HLLSA, SALSA and the Chicago-Kent Lambdas.
