Class of 2013
Sarah Marfisi grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2008 with honors and highest distinction with a degree in Political Science and minors in American Studies and Spanish. Before law school, she joined AmeriCorps and worked for the Council Bluffs Civil Rights Commission in Iowa. She attended Chicago-Kent with her wife, fellow Honors Scholar Anne Marfisi.
At Chicago-Kent, Sarah was a member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society. She externed for two judges in the domestic relations division of the Cook County Circuit Court. She also spent a semester working on attorney disciplinary cases at the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. During her 2L summer, Sarah traveled to Kosovo on an International Rule of Law Externship to study the status of LGBT civil rights in that country.
Sarah is currently the Staff Attorney for Nebraska’s largest state trial court, where she supervises the term law clerk program and provides legal research and writing to the judges. Prior to her current position, she worked as a Deputy County Attorney, a Nebraska Assistant Attorney General, and as a term clerk for the Nebraska District Court and Court of Appeals.
