Special LL.M. and Overseas Training Programs: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Chicago-Kent College of Law and Inyurpolis Law Firm (ILF) have organized the School of American Law in Kharkiv, Ukraine (SAL Kharkiv).
SAL Kharkiv offers 140 hours of instruction in English on topics in American and comparative law at the premises provided by ILF. Topics vary from year to year, but typically include: Antitrust, Contracts, Corporate Law, International Business Transactions, Intellectual Property, Legal Writing, Introduction to American Law, E-Commerce, Corporate Responsibility, and Criminal Law. The courses are taught by Chicago-Kent faculty and renowned Ukrainian scholars, who are also Chicago-Kent Adjunct Professors.
This is the first-and so far the only-program of this kind in Ukraine. The program is based on Chicago-Kent's experience in offering American Law studies in Poland since 1998. SAL Kharkiv graduates will receive a certificate of completion signed by Dean of Chicago-Kent and Senior Partner of ILF.
Students who successfully complete the School of American Law program can complete the LL.M. degree in U.S., International & Transnational Law in Chicago in one semester (provided they meet the other conditions for admission to the LL.M. program). Applicants for LL.M. must hold a first degree in law, and should be proficient in English. All applicants are required to submit an application form including a personal essay, law school transcripts, and two references.
SAL Kharkiv is not, however, restricted to law students. Students and graduates of other studies are eligible to attend SAL Kharkiv classes.
All SAL Kharkiv students will be eligible for an exchange (up to one semester) with SAL Gdansk, Poland. Detailed exchange conditions will be provided upon request.
