Latest version of Internet Explorer (11.0.9600.17633) compatible with my.iit.edu

The latest version of IE 11 (11.0.9600.17633) is compatible with the myIIT portal (my.iit.edu). The update to this version was installed via Windows Updates. To verify the version of IE installed on your computer please open Internet Explorer, click Help and choose About Internet Explorer. If you do not have this version installed please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@kentlaw.iit.edu, 6-5300 or www.kentlaw.iit.edu/helpdesk and we will update your browser.

Patch Tuesday: KB3023607 Breaks Cisco AnyConnect

Microsoft's KB3023607 update has caused some users using Cisco AnyConnect to receive an error, "Failed to initialize connection subsystem", to appear when trying to connect to the VPN. Please contact the Help Desk at 6-5300, helpdesk@kentlaw.iit.edu or www.kentlaw.iit.edu/helpdesk and we will assist you with gaining access to the CK VPN.

my.iit.edu not compatible with IE 11

The Main Campus has informed us that the myIIT portal (my.iit.edu) is no longer compatible with Internet Explorer version 11.0.9600. When trying to access myIIT in this version of Internet Explorer you may receive a message stating the page cannot be displayed, an error message or it is possible the page may work for you but the connection is not guaranteed. The Main Campus has asked for a patch from their vendor in order to make this version of IE 11 work with my.iit.edu but they have yet to receive it.

While Main campus is addressing ongoing issues with my.iit.edu and the version of IE 11, please use another browser such as Chrome or Firefox in order to access the my.iit.edu portal in the meantime.

Mac OSX 10.10 Yosemite wireless issues

Some users have had difficulty accessing the Chicago-Kent wireless network on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. This is due to a bug in Apple's OS X Yosemite that affects the type of wireless authentication used at Chicago-Kent, the Main Campus and other institutions. Apple has released a software update in order to alleviate this problem. Another software update from Apple regarding wireless issues is still pending.

The software update released by Apple is 10.10.2 which resolves an issue that may cause Wi-Fi to disconnect and web pages to render slowly. To install the software update on your Mac click the App Store and then click updates and install the 10.10.2 software update.  Apple is aware that there are still issues with devices bouncing between frequencies on wireless access points, which results in dropped connections and poor performance. Apple has not provided an update to resolve this issue as yet.

my.iit.edu not rendering - Resolved as of 3:50pm

As of 3:10pm the my.iit.edu site is not rendering. We have contacted the Main Campus and informed them of the issue. Will update when this is resolved.

Single sign-on to Gmail from myIIT portal - Resolved as of 12:58pm

We are currently experiencing issues with the single sign on to Gmail from the MyIIT portal. OTS at main campus is aware of the issue and are working to resolve it. We will update this space when this issue has been resolved.

Google Drive latency issues - Resolved as of 1:10pm

As of 9:28am Google Drive is slow to render and users will occasioanlly experience 500 errors.  Google is investigating the issue.

Google Drive slow to render - Resolved

As of 8:40 am this morning Google has reported issues with Google drive. The service has been restored for most users already.

Microsoft ends support for Windows XP

Microsoft is no longer supporting the Windows XP operating system.  If you have Windows XP please upgrade your computer to Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Keeping Windows XP on your computer will leave you vulnerable to attacks and viruses.

Apple ends security updates for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Apple has stopped issuing updates for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.  If you have a Snow Leopard Mac the ITS department recommends you upgrade your operating system. Keeping Snow Leopard on your Mac will leave you susceptible to attacks from hackers and computer viruses.  Please contact the ITS department for information on upgrading your Mac or determining the OS X version you have.

Gmail and Google+ is experiencing intermittent outages across the world.  Once this Gmail is back up and running we will send a message out to all faculty, staff and Students.

Google bar update

Google rolled out a new version of the Google bar for Google Apps users. This is designed to be simpler and more consistent with Android and Chrome OS. It includes notifications, a Google+ share box, and a new App Launcher with links to other Google products. Google services that are not enabled will not be shown in the App Launcher. The below image and text from the Library details the change.
