Public Interest Resource Center (PIRC)
The PIRC’s Pro Bono and Community Service Initiative assists students in achieving their public service goals. We provide information for those who are interested in public interest, volunteer opportunities, and pro bono legal work. Primarily, we help students find legal and non-legal projects, including one-time and ongoing service opportunities.
Moreover, we administer the program that awards the Chicago-Kent Certificate of Service and the Dean's Distinguished Public Service Award, which recognizes outstanding student volunteer efforts. Students can register, submit hours, and review eligibility requirements online. Recipients of these awards are recognized at our Public Interest Awards. Some examples of volunteer opportunities include the Self-Help Resource Center, the Patent Hub, the Chicago Property Tax Appeal Project, and the Constitutional Democracy Project.
