    SBA Awards and Bar & Gavel Ceremony | Dean's State of the Law School Address

    IIT Downtown Campus - Chicago-Kent College of Law
    Room: Governor Richard B. Ogilvie Auditorium

    The Student Bar Association will present awards to Staff, Students, Faculty, and Alumnus of the Year. Dean Krent will give the State of the Law School Address, and the 2013-2014 Bar & Gavel Society inductees will be recognized. A reception with food and drink will follow.

    Chicago-Kent Documentary Film Series on Race: "Raising Our Voices"

    In an effort to have meaningful discussions about race, join faculty, students and alumni for a film screening of "Raising Our Voices." This documentary seeks to raise awareness about the increasing hate crimes and bias incidents affecting South Asian communities, especially in the late 1990s.

    Minnesota Supreme Court Justice David Stras will provide an overview of the cases before the Supreme Court this term. The event is sponsored by the Federalist Society. Food will be served.

    "The Great Chicken Flap: How the Schechter Poultry Case Changed America and Showed Its Possibilities" - Best-selling author Amity Shlaes

    Best-selling author and syndicated columnist Amity Shlaes will deliver a lecture on A.L.A. Schechter Poultry Corp. v. United States, a landmark 1935 U.S. Supreme Court case that declared unconstitutional a central piece of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal legislation. The lecture, which is co-sponsored by IIT Chicago-Kent, is the first in the Liberty Lecture Series sponsored by the Jack Miller Center for Teaching America's Founding Principles and History.
