Spring 2024: CTA Upass Program Information

CTA U-Pass Program. Chicago-Kent is a participant in the Chicago Transit Authority's U-Pass program. All full-time J.D. students (determined by your official division status, not by the number of credit hours you take in a particular semester) are automatically  enrolled in the U-Pass program. Your current Ventra U-Pass card will be activated to work from Tuesday, January 16, 2024 (the first day of regular classes) through May 8  (the last day of exams). The mandatory fee of $146  for the Spring semester will be billed to your student account.

Students may choose to OPT OUT of the UPASS program for the semester by completing the  Spring 2024 U-Pass Opt out form by January 12, 2024. The form must be completed by this deadline to ensure your student account will not be billed the UPass fee.

NEW THIS YEAR: For part time students, you can now elect to “Opt In” to the Upass program if you wish.  If you are an evening or part time day student and would like a Upass, you can fill out the Spring 2024 U-Pass Opt In form by January 12, 2024. You will be charged the $146 for the semester.  (Note: this form is only for part time students.  If you are a full time student, DO NOT fill this form out)

The U-Pass is a discount fare card allowing unlimited rides on all CTA buses and trains.). The CTA uses the Ventra card, which you will keep until you graduate. The cards require activation; instructions will be provided when you pick up your card. You will also be able to use the card during breaks from school by adding money to the card. Due to restrictions imposed by the CTA, the program is not currently available to evening students or part-time day students. For more details, visit the CTA's U-Pass web site
