In Memoriam: John H. Bickley Jr. '51

The Chicago-Kent community was saddened to learn of the recent death of John H. Bickley, Jr. '51, an outstanding trial lawyer and 2002 recipient of Chicago-Kent's Alumni Professional Achievement Award.

John began his legal career as an assistant United States attorney in the Northern District of Illinois. He moved on to serve as assistant state's attorney and special prosecutor for Cook County, special counsel and chief of the environmental control division of the Illinois Attorney General's Office, and consulting attorney to the Illinois State Board of Elections.

John served as campaign manager for U.S. Senator Everett Dirksen, Illinois Governor Richard B. Ogilvie '49, and Illinois Attorney General William Scott. Elected to the Society of Trial Lawyers in 1973, he also served as president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and as national vice president of the Federal Bar Association. Here at Chicago-Kent, he served for many years as a member of our alumni board of directors and as a guest lecturer.

We extend our sympathy to John's wife, Anne; son John '78; daughters Lisa and Kathryn; and stepdaughter Jennifer.
